I am a first time website builder. I want a better theme for Wordpress and I like your 80/20.
Do I need to know how to code to use your 80/20 theme?

Thank you for your question and your interest in RockSolid Themes, David.

Installing and using a WordPress theme is easy, even if your just getting started. Short answer: If you don't want to write a single line of CSS don't use a WordPress theme. If you're willing to learn a thing or two about web design while customizing your theme – go ahead. Some basic understanding of CSS is all you need.

Detailed answer: How convenient you'll find it to customize the theme largely depends on how much customization you're planning. While some steps like changing the colors or logo are easy to do, others like changing bigger parts of the layout may need deeper understanding of CSS and HTML.

Recommending CSS (without any bloat, WYSIWYG tools or options panels) to customize your website is part of our philosophy to keep our themes fast, lightweight and overall professional. If you want to avoid absolutely any contact with code, you'll probably enjoy using one of the many "do it yourself homepage" online products more than any WordPress theme. You'll use a lot of flexibility and autonomy with those tools though. It is just like Jeffrey Zeldman, one of the most important experts in the field, once said: “Real web designers write code. Always have, always will.”.

You can strongly benefit from all the know how that's packed into a RockSolid Theme. If you start to feel comfortable with CSS you can also try to use Sass, a professional tool, that helps you write CSS even faster. This workflow has so many advantages over using one of those bloated options panels and additional frameworks that we feel absolutely confident recommending it to you. Even if 'not just clicking things together' leads you a little out of your comfort zone, it is the right way. You can discover so much and gain important skills.

If you are trying to make a professional website, RockSolid Themes are a great shortcut and launching pad for you.
